Dare to know more!
Hello blog readers! In order to give you all a little background I’ll start with how each of us knows each other. Penny is my wonderful, difficult, pessimistic younger “twin” sister and I have known Casey since way back when in Kindergarten! Casey and I have traveled to London, Amsterdam, Paris, Athens, and Kavala together and she is commonly mistaken as the third sister.
I call myself the part-time free spirit because I love travelling, but with school and life and a dog and responsibilities, it’s hard to commit to the full time free spirit gig. So, on the weekends, once a month, or once a year depending on how my life is partitioned at the moment, I get to call myself a free spirit and wander new places and taste yummy foods and see new people and hear new languages and all that wonderful and exciting stuff.
Off The Grid
As the other ladies of Devil’s Hole Ventures will tell you, I like to think that given the opportunity, I would live off the grid somewhere, grow my own food, and have my own chickens and goats! The chickens and goats are definitely happening one day in the future, regardless of off the grid status. I like living as natural as I can, and no I am not a crunchy granola, but I compost, make my own yogurt and wine, and grow some veggies in a little patch of sunlight by my cute rental home under the trees.
So just to give you an idea of what currently occupies my time, I am a full time Masters student at my local university. I am working on my M.S. in Environmental Science and Policy and have my Master’s certificate in GIS. I’m hoping to be done in July. Also, I have a cute and terrible turd of a dog, named Bonnie. She’s a young lab full of so much energy that it’s a constant struggle to keep her tired out. I think it’s easier for her to keep me tired out ;).
Inspirational Quote time!
To end this little intro about me, I’ve been to four continents, North America, Europe, Asia, and Africa, and the goal is to get to the others sometime in my life. Also, I haven’t travelled each of them extensively, so revisiting to see other countries will happen as well. Hopefully we can be a small part in encouraging all of you to get out there and have your own amazing adventures! There’s a quote I love from one of my favorite TV personalities, Les Stroud, that I’ll leave you with…
“In the adventure known as life, there are those who live it vicariously, and enjoy the ride from the safety of an arm-chair; and that’s good. There are those who have a few chances to realize incredible and life-changing experiences; and though they don’t repeat them, they carry with them a growth and personal philosophy for the rest of their lives. And there are those for whom a taste is never enough, for whom the lust of adventure is nearly insatiable. And if you add to that the overwhelming desire to create, and to share, then you get where I reside. For the end of one adventure, only signifies the beginning of another.”
